Project #1 Lost & Found

Description

I still remember that in my freshman year of college, I lost my water bottle in the drawing studio. It was a silver stainless steel cup with a black plastic cap. The cup was wider on the top and narrower at the bottom. The cap was flat and screwed onto the top of the cup with a flip-opened lid. The bottle is slim and tall, just the right size to hold in one hand. I first lost it in the studio, and I found it the next day. However, it was lost soon again, but I could not remember where I lost it. As a result, it was forever gone.

Design Process

I did not have a partner for this project, so I recalled one thing I lost most recently and did the assignment on it. I first drew the water bottle which I lost in Sketchbook, so I have a clearer idea of how it looked like.

Then, I drew the bottle in p5. The water bottle was black and silver, which are both gray scales. Therefore, I made the background pink to add some variation of colors. I drew an ellipse to be the bottom of the bottle and a quad to be the side. Similarly, an ellipse, a quad and an arc were made to build the cap of the bottle. A brighter highlight was then overlayed onto the side of the bottle to show some dimension.

Reflection

This project represents the use of geomatric shapes in p5 to build basic object. Through this project, I learned how to draw shapes, arcs, how to fill in colors, changing the overall postion of the coordinate axis, how to start and stop a command, how to rotate objects, and how to mix colors to create color effects.
